Rankings of Organization Membership by Group

This alternate visualization of the same data makes it easier to see how different demographic groups rank their participation in each type of organization. Nearly all demographic groups rank religious groups first. One exception is those who graduated with a vocational or technical degree, for whom membership in a professional organization is ranked first, just ahead of religious groups. Older adults are more likely to be members of charitable organizations than younger adults, while the converse is true for sports and recreation organizations. Men and Hispanics and Asians also rank sports and recreation organizations highly, while blacks and women are more likely to rank education groups highly.
